Thursday, August 23 (Session 1)

1:00 – 3:30 pm – Workshop Class “PUSH BACK! Tune Up Your Competitive Bidding”  OPEN TO ALL PLAYERS  – Must Register & Pay to participate.  


6:00 – 9:00 pm – Stratified club game:  A, B, and C Flights.  Join Karen after the game at Gusano’s Pizza (just down the road from Riordan) for 2 hours of bridge conservation, eats and drinks.  Dutch Treat.

Friday, August 24 (Session 2)

9 – 11:30 am – Bridge Workshop Continued (with open discussion of Thursday evening bridge hands).

The Karen Walker workshop is designed with NLM bridge players in mind but will also be of interest to experienced players desiring to learn more about the latest bridge techniques for improving their game.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME so please don’t miss this ‘Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity to learn from a nationally renowned player, teacher, and Bridge Bulletin columnist.

You will be seated at card tables during the presentation and will  have a chance to bid and play specific hands that illustrate points being presented.  All are welcome – NO PARTNER NEEDED.


A bridge teacher for over 35 years, Karen is a two-time national champion and writes the “Bidding Matters” column in the ACBL Bridge Bulletin.  She’s the author of a textbook, Bridge for Beginners and Beyond, maintains a teaching web site (kwbridge.com) and edits the District 8 online newsletter.  Her hometown is Champaign, IL, where she owns a bridge club and chairs an annual regional tournament.  She’s also a featured speaker at regional and national tournaments.
